I bring hood wherever I go.
I'm worried about gentlemens competency as a gm. Maybe he bit off more than he can chew with the panthers.

I'm not arguing that Beason and TD aren't ridiculously overpaid, because they clearly are. If Gettleman killed off every bad contract Hurney agreed to at one time, we wouldn't have a team at all in 2013. I'm sure it's going to take at least 2 years to get the house in order. Hurney wrecked this bitch.

Whoever said they were hot for Jarvis Jones could be on to something.

He had fewer tackles because the defense around him got significantly better, so he wasn't cleaning up other people's messes as often. Brian Urlacher played twelve games as well and accumulated 68 tackles (albeit a lot more solos). Lance Briggs averaged 99 over the last three seasons. 91 tackles would have ranked among the league leaders for strongside linebackers. It's actually pretty insane that he had so many in 2010 and 2011 given that you usually only see that many from middle linebackers, which he has never played.

So why not cut Beason? He costs a crapload more than Anderson and you don't actually know if he can play anymore, especially at strongside linebacker. Again, cutting Anderson saved only $200k. That's all. It will create more cap room than that if it's a June 1st cut, but that money still counts against the cap at some point.

Just 200k ? Wow I read where he had 8.5 mil on guaranteed money starting in 2011 for 5 years so we get ~ 4-5 mil of dead money? How does this effect us going forward in the draft or free agency . We were what 3.5 mil under now with the dead money about even? Line backing looks thin

After thiinking for a minute, they have had a window to speak with agents the last three days. Any NY or SD lbs coming free? Something that helps this make better sense.

I'm struggling to find a positive in this move. The only one I can think of is that he won't be a three down player, but that gets trumped by the fact that we're paying him so much money.

    Has Hurney really left?

Um the dead money means we're in the same place we were so if we save 200k and we were at 3.5 mil its now 3.7 mil.

    Quoting your earlier thread: http://www.thisboardrocks.com/forum/f19/carolina-panthers-salary-cap-tracker-183939/

It looks like we have to eat $13 million if we cut Beason this year, whereas we get a tiny amount back by cutting Anderson. I'm assuming that's why they chose Anderson to cut over Beason. I would be very surprised if this was related to actual on field performance.
