The Qb pool, draft and FA, seems very shallow; others wanted him too.

As I've said many times before, decent QBs are a dime a dozen. Alex Smith is somewhat better than decent, but not by a huge amount. It makes sense in KC because he fits the offense and they have enough talent to immediately challenge Denver for the division, but I doubt the 49ers had many other options. They weren't trading him to Arizona even if he wasn't a terrible fit for Arians' offense. I couldn't see Buffalo giving up nearly that much either given that Fitzpatrick is fairly similar and due a crapload of money already. He wouldn't fit the offense in Cleveland either, plus they're looking to build rather than compete right away. Who else would really be interested? I think KC bid against themselves.

They might have. I saw where Cleveland had interest but who knows.

Chudzinski and Turner both like throwing downfield, which Alex Smith can't do at all. I'm not saying that Cleveland wasn't interested at all, but I really doubt they would have ever considered giving up a second round pick. KC not only giving up a 2nd this year but a 3rd next season is the height of insanity. Of course, San Francisco did have the option of doing nothing and simply keeping Smith as a backup, but I feel like the Chiefs could have gotten him for just a 3rd had they waited until April.

Niners now have 15 picks in this draft I believe. Rumor has them shopping picks for Revis

I think Rivera meant the panthers will look at another wr in the draft or fa. That's what you're warm meant.

Baalke and Harbaugh are fucking awesome. I actually like Alex Smith in KC if they didn't give up so damn much. Cuckold teams always panic about quarterbacks. And yeah, if SF could package a deal for Revis (even though I think corners are overvalued) then watch the fuck out.

Watch the fuck out anyway. 15 picks, and no way they need 15 new players.
