offensive leading with the head

    Why is it that it is unsportsmanlike conduct when defensive player leads with his helmet but the tailback can lower his head, lead with his helmet and
    nothing is called?

    Just watched New England RB lower his head (gave himself a concussion) and fumbled.

    If the defensive player did that - 15 yard penalty.

    that would be leading with the foot, perfectly legal and acceptable if you are Tom Brady

    um, the defensive player lead with his helmet as well

    and once a runner (RB, WR or QB), there's no such a thing as leading with a helmet, unless the runner is being held up and a defender comes in and spears him in the body with his helmet...

    He actually didn't. Pollard had his head low and to the side. He was going to hit with his shoulder, but their helmets collided when Ridley lowered his helmet.

    Pretty sure you get penalized for leading with your helmet at any time.
