[IMG] Why would you have to look him up if you knew who he was? And you never mentioned his time with the Saints, just his .500 record with Syracuse. You had absolutely no clue who Doug Marrone was, and that's fine. You know more about personnel guys and assistants than I do, but this one time there was a guy you didn't know about and I did. Let it go.

Makes me wonder if he was hoping that the Carolina job would come open. Having the right QB would understandably be a big deal for his chances at pro success.

I had to look him up to find some reason he was a good hire. Something I wasn't aware of, but there wasn't anything. He wasn't a head coaching candidate in 09 for the NFL and I don't see a reason he should've been.

Again, you're not "catching" any mistake. Stop trolling people with "what they really meant".

I don't think that's really an option. Carolina wasn't going to show any sign of giving him the control he expected and if he only wanted the Carolina job I'd imagine he wouldn't be interviewing with Buffalo.

    This is what you posted:
You had no clue who Doug Marrone was. You still haven't acknowledged his time as a Saints' OC (very positive recommendations from Parcells and Payton supposedly influenced a lot of teams), nor the fact that four different NFL teams were interested in him as their head coach. He was not a "bargain bin" guy at all, he's just a guy you didn't know. But because you're dishonest and can't admit to any mistake no matter how small, you have to lie to defend what you said. It's dumb and pointless, and it's what has undermined you for so many years. Your complete inability to just acknowledge a mistake and move on ends up getting you humiliated time after time.

JR has obviously done that with two out of his four head coaches in the past, plus there is no front office presence currently. It's not out of the question even if you personally think it's a bad idea.

maybe you need to move on, since I didn't say "I have no idea who this is" and you're harping on a mistake that was never made. If I feel like I've done something in error, I own it. Your input on my virtue is irrelevant, since you lied in saying I have no idea who this is. I think it's a shitty hire, I think he's under-talented to be an NFL coach.

I don't know for certain that Carolina wouldn't give Kelly ultimate control, but there's no reason to think he would. And I wouldn't. I feel pretty confident that wouldn't have happened.

You posted "Buffalo just hired Doug Marrone, who I had to freaking look up," which means you had absolutely no clue who he was. And frankly, if you had the slightest clue then you wouldn't have made the comment about him being "bargain bin."

No, you don't. In fact, you're absolutely known for being someone who will never, ever admit to a mistake. Again, you spent years refusing to acknowledge that you were wrong for saying that Shawne Merriman would be a "DE-only" in the NFL. This is not just something I point out, it's how everyone views you. You can't admit your mistakes, even unimportant ones like this one with Marrone.

You said yourself that you had to look him up. You didn't know who he was, but you need to pretend like you think he was a bad hire because you're a coward and a liar who must defend his mistakes to the death instead of acting like a man and owning them. Moreover, I'd say that a guy with prominent NFL coordinating experience and college head coaching experience is pretty well qualified. Obviously at least four NFL teams felt he was, which makes you trying to pretend otherwise all the more comical.

Other than the fact that he did so for two out of his four head coaches?
