(Update: A league source says Hardy has been dealing with a tragic death his family and is unlikely to play against the Saints. The Panthers essentially told Hardy to take as much time as he needs.)

    Prayers to the family.

    Just now caught this.

Why would it be popular to cut Gross? I'm glad you don't agree. That seems like a profoundly retarded sentiment.

he saves, I believe, $8.7 million to cut.

FWIW, I don't think you can easily go get a better player for that money, and I don't want to put Cam behind a bunch of shit. Me personally, I'd look at him as a guy who's in the last year of a deal, see how far he wants to be signed, and cut that cap by half.

I'd like to restructure and get him into a contract where he can retire here. But wow...saves that much?

He's still an elite LT. That's a position we can't compromise now, but yeah, I see the attraction at almost 10 mil. Shit.

Gross is a good player, but certainly not elite. I doubt we cut him though. I really think much of this roster will stay intact, save for the rookie class and some mid level FA's.

I wouldn't call him elite but he needs to stay for reasons stated. It's pretty obvious that we need a strong OL, this isn't the time to subtract from it. Restructure and cut elsewhere.

Dude, he has never been an elite LT. Not even close, really, although he has been average or above every year except 2009 (was leading the league in sacks allowed that season when he got hurt). The issue is that Hurney left the team in a position where it has to create cap space somewhere, plus Gross is going to be 33 next season when he enters the last season of his contract. The team will either let him walk for nothing or give a pretty sizable new contract to a 34 year old.

Hardy had a death in the family, that's why he didn't play yesterday
