Sophomore Slump

Is it me or did "the slump" end when Chud quit calling 20 read options each game?

 

It's just you. The yards per offensive play has stayed exactly the same at 5.9 since you guys were bitching about all the read-options.

 

What people? Who is saying this? Oh shit, so you mean no one really thinks Cam has done anything to merit success with his talents and his work habits? Even though he has a ton of work still left to do, even though he's inconsistent as hell, you mean all the good he has done thus far has been all due to Chud, and that's what all the people think?

Man, thank God you're so in tune with the people.

Funny, whenever you're in a debate here on the boards, you speak for "everyone on the board" all the time. Now you can speak for the "people" on how they view Cam, too.

Wish I had that ability. What's it called...delusions of grandeur?

 

And what about the strengths and weaknesses of our expensive backfield.
What about playing to their strengths.
What about the positive affect a strong running game brings to a QB's effectiveness.

Lets ignore all the 3rd and longs.

 

It's frustrating that I have to keep repeating myself because you either lack the ability to understand information or are so stubborn that you ignore it. The Panthers have been in the top 10 for yards per offensive play all season long. The notions that they have been a bad offense or that Chudzinski's play-calling has been bad are both contradicted by the facts. Chud didn't make Marty Hurney give out giant contracts to DW & Stewart, while most of us made the point he shouldn't have done so because this offense would clearly never lean on the running game. That's simply the reality of a Cam Newton-led offense. I'd love to see them adopt some of the Pistol elements Washington has used to great effect, but while in the shotgun it's simply not easy to run the ball without using that read-option stuff some of you guys hate so much.
