    i'm being a whiney bitch but i hate this design.

    the classic view had it so i could see immediately what threads had new posts in them because the thread was highlighted in a darker color. now i open this site and it's like walking from a well lit room into a dark dim room. it's quite shocking to the eyes.

    That's logical, but the silver/grey is still a bit less harsh than the white text, on my eyes anyhow.

    No. Seems like anybody could see either easily enough, but the silver/grey is "softer," and the white is slightly harsh.
