Except Jake started out winning and due to injury declined. Despite his limitations, he led(operative word) his team to a Super Bowl in his first year and Smith just made the playoffs after how many years? Ill bet the 03 panthers dont make the playoffs with Smith. Looking back now, yes the defense we had made plays but Jake won quite a few of those games on his own. Id argue that his play made the team better where Smith rode the coat tails of a good defense and Gore.

First comment, all I can think to say is, OMG!!!

Second comment, I would argue our team wouldve been even better, had we had a QB who threw it to his own team, more than he threw it to the opposing team. In fact Ted, I must say that after watching professional football some 50 years, Jake was the first QB I ever watched who "perfected" the turnover of fumbling in the pocket. Before Jake, I only knew QBs could hurt you by throwing INTs. Sorry, we would argue all night on Jake. I wish him the best, but Im glad we (as an organization) FINALLY moved on.

And btw, that was national sports folk who routinely said that "we were a QB away from being a great team",,,,,,,,, that certainly wasn't just my opinion.

I could HONESTLY argue that Smith is a BETTER QB than Jake, simply because Smith don't turn it over, at least not last year. Taking care of the ball is something Jake could never do.

Youre a moron. Jake didnt fumble, youre thinking of Collins. Yes he did throw alot of ints, but he also didnt miss wide open wrs like Smith did. Smith doesnt make plays, he plays not to lose. Jake had his window where he (pay attenion) led the team to wins, Alex has not done that. Theres no arguement Delhomme was better. The span of time he was effective is debatable.

You can talk about ints all you want but I can list alot of games Jake won that Alex Smith never would.

??? who are YOU thinking of? Jake fumbled 41 times in his 7 seasons as a panther . .. More fumbles per year than cam, alex smith, And collins who had about 4 fumbles a year with us.

Ok so no use to argue facts with an idiot, Jake fumbled at the first smell of pressure in the pocket every Sunday.
