I think you guys are also stretching your use of the term "elite." Realistically, the Panthers have no "elite" defenders, although the ones you mentioned are above average.

If there was ever going to be an acceptation to the rule, Beason would be at the top of the list... he won't fail due to lack of effort

I think that analysis is pretty good, and paints a fair picture of what Beason is facing but there could be variables they're not accounting for.

Say, if a guy has the injury at 28, 29, and plays fewer games in the three years after returning, a lot of guys do that anyway as they age. Would like to see numbers divided by age group but the sample size would probably be pretty small.

Pissed with Mel Kiper's remark about the Panthers finding their new Def Captain

I hope he gets back to what he was, but I understand why the Panthers don't want to assume he will. As someone else mentioned, Beason was drafted while Morgan was still on the team recovering from his injuries.

Morgan was a walking inury, Beason had been durable prior to his injury.

Maybe this will all work out well with Beason playing well at WLB. It just sucks that areas of need like DL and corner were not addressed. I guess it is better to land a good player that is not at a need position than it is to reach for need.

But as others have noted, an Achilles injury is one of the worst any professional athlete can experience since it permanently robs them of explosiveness.
