Thanks for those of you that noticed and/or read my hastily and fairly poorly written blog (and, even more shittily named), which I've never really promoted, and that I still have no idea what to do with. Appreciate the thoughts.

In February the board went down right around the ten year anniversary of its creation. I was relieved Larry had pulled the plug, and it almost felt like I was the only one who noticed. When it came back up, I almost didn't come back. Since then I just don't care to deal with some of the nonsense, and so it's been nice to be away from some of it.

FWIW, I do like Ingram. He's a better football player than Coples. I'd choose Coples if all is equal, begrudgingly. It will suck to deal with the same fucking Peppers baggage one way or another. I don't want a lineman. I'm pretty sure Eric Norwood was never 270 but didn't feel like arguing it around the time I stopped paying attention, and Ingram is by no means Norwood. I'd be interested to see where Norwood played at 270, if that was the statement.

Also any of them at SLB is clearly unconventional, but thinking more about Upshaw I reminded myself that it was Spags, running this defense, that put Kiwanuka there. Not the most incredible example but it's there, not unlike Johnson playing OLB for Ravens/Chargers from DT, or OMGz 300 lb left ends. You put the best guys on the field.
I don't want a WR. WR and OL are beancounter positions right now, good values compared to free agents. The biggest reasons to take one this high otherwise, have to do with what happens years down the road. I really don't even get Kuechly. I knew Tannehill would find his way this high - amazing how that shit works.

I don't watch Game of Thrones. I've heard it's good. I didn't name myself magnus. Someone else did and I thought it was stupid almost every day for the fucking 14 years I've used it now. I don't use it many places anymore.

I might be back tomorrow and/or a few more days. Who knows. I dropped a bunch of shit on the blog the last day and change if anyone cared about that.

Melvin Ingram had a fantastic 3.5 sack game against Auburn, but had 0 sacks in eight others. He also had a disturbingly low number of total tackles, with 19 of his 48 coming in just two games. Ingram was not consistently productive or impactful. Also, Norwood did play above 270 his first two seasons at South Carolina: http://www.thestate.com/2010/02/25/1173511/norwood-trimmed-down-trained-up.html Coples will be an every-down NFL defensive end, and while I can understand the appeal of a hybrid type who can suit the team's varied looks, I'd still rather have Upshaw than Ingram in that case since I believe he's the superior player.

get your point on the "every down" factor but there have been enough tweener types who have been impact players to counter that one. Started to look into Ingrams stats then i realized there is a more significant argument . .. you brought it up yourself repeatedly with peppers. Ingram was THE guy on that very active front 7. I watched all but one gamecocks game last year and Ingram was routinely double teamed or chipped. Opposing coaches would bring up how he'd have to be accounted for and planned around. Sound familiar?

No one will need to double team Ingram at the NFL level, and whether or not a hybrid player is worth it depends on the frequency with which Rivera plans non-4-3 looks. Remember that they already have Applewhite as the pure rush LB, so either the hybrid replaces Applewhite or else they need to have drop experience, which is the knock against Ingram and Upshaw. If they're doing base 4-3 less than 40% of the defensive snaps then that kind of player can be worth it, otherwise no.

Somebody on the radio yesterday, unfortunately I can't remember who, made a case for Keulchy asserting the Panthers could use a lot 4-2-5 packages, and Keulchy and Beason would be well suited for that, not saying I agree, just found it interesting..
