I've heard that statement a few times before in other places/outlets. I doubt you can count it as a fact, since the term "bust" is so subjective.

No. It has had some high profile busts, but a lot of those were the foreseeable Poe-type where guys without a history of production were taken because they were big, strong, and athletic. Overall the position has a pretty good record, although admittedly I haven't done a full analysis of busts by position in several years. Back when I did, quarterback was the biggest risk while offensive line was the safest.

They might be able to move ahead by giving up the #22 pick and the #37 in the second round, which is possible.

yep. our guys won't be able to budge from the 9 spot and they will pick Poe, or some similar waste of a pick. I have a suspicion that our pick will either be Poe or some other goofy reach that none of us saw coming

I'd like to think if everyday schmoes can see Poe is a workout warrior with incredible bust potential, that the professionals in the front office can as well.

    I've been wrong before though.

See though, it's the everyday schmoes that don't know shit. They think they do, but they don't. The shit we hear and read on ESPN doesn't compare to what the teams hear back from actual scouts who truly know how to evaluate a player.

It happens every year. There's always a few GM's dumb enough to take the bait.

I'm sure I can't compare to a pro scout. However, I know how to use YouTube, and after watching him there, he seems like a just a guy. Maybe you pick him up in the 5th round based purely on his combine numbers to give him a shot, but no way is he the best D-lineman in college football based on his tape.

There's nothing impressive on tape or on his resume at Memphis. He's a combine star and those guys bust all the time. Doesn't mean he WILL, but it's a pretty good supposition to make.
