So sticking to one dogma is not the way to go, then? Before it was offense, offense, offense, offense, and offense because what's the point on defense?

It would be better - more third down conversions, more plays made, certainly. Yet, your backs might not get those 1100 yards with more pass reps, which would've happened. Those backs wouldn't have gotten yards in part because of the deep balls, too. It's a trade off.

That's the thing. You could make an argument that Von Miller mattered more than either. Who called that? The hindsight argument is always fun. Yet, I've stated I was wrong about Cam, and how this team would be able to use him. And whether he'd be immediately ready. Anyone who had no doubt of that, directly before the AZ game, is completely full of shit, but I'm happy to have been wrong, and have detailed how much so.

the FO can make an offensive pick, that's fine. It's the idea of specifically ignoring the defense purposefully that's stunning.

And, that most of your examples of why to do so, are stunned.

    Mario

IF the Texans don't franchise Mario Williams, which would be stupid on their part not to, I would shit and fall back in it if we made a run at him. Just not in the Panther's MO

I think Collin mentioned that the 'Cats seem to be ok with their current situation at DT, though I'm not. But I think we GOT to address the CB situation and arguably the whole defensive backfield save Chris Gamble.

Remember we're chasing Brees and the Saints in this division.

I would fall short of saying that. Peppers was more dynamic both over his first six seasons and in general. Mario might've bested Peppers' sack numbers over the first six years if healthy, because of Peppers' AIDS in 2007. But, given the choice, even with the additional age, I'd take Peppers.

But, you're right in that it likely won't happen. I'd be great with a FA signing, but we've figured that won't happen either. I like more at end, but a grand dynamic gesture at a position, I'd prefer the two other positions I'd detailed.

Normanator - Rivera did say something to the effect of liking what he had at DT. Which would be OK if McClain and Fua both get stronger, and if McClain can stay in his fucking gap, but moreso that Edwards can take on a lot of run snaps. It still wouldn't be great, by any means.

Ok, the whole ignore the defense part was over the top. That said I still contend there isn't a CB or DL worthy of passing on a blue chip OL- if he's there. If not sure try on D.

fair enough. We still disagree - I like the 2nd best corner more than the 2nd/3rd OT, but we do need emphasis on the OL. No picks in the top 3 rounds since 08.

To me, there were times this season when teams were able to get to Cam easily. I also think Cams running style made them look better than they actually were. I didn't see a lot of good running lanes for our backs. Outside of Kalil nobody really impressed me. Also think Gross is over rated and much better at RT than left. You never know with the draft, maybe Kalil slips to us because of combine hype for some other guys.

I like the big guard from Iowa State for the right guard spot (he could also fill in for Otah when he gets hurt)

It's much easier to find fat ass DTs who can clog the middle against the run than it is to find pass rushers. For that matter, Edwards & Fua could probably accomplish as much. Simply not playing McClain would be addition by subtraction.

fair enough I guess, though corner is clearly not going to be that easy (or cheap).

Finleye - I do like Osemele, though a Brandon Washington (guessing top of 4) would be good - still big, but can move more. I worry about the hugest, and Otah at guard too if that came to it, whether they could really attack the zone.
