His Bills teams went to 4 superbowls, his Panthers went to the NFC title game in year 2, his Colts went to 2 superbowls and won one of them. Does any other GM come close to this level of success over the past 20 years? Just thinking back on it how many times did his teams miss the playoffs?

Yup, he was. But so was Mike McCormick.
Polian didn't do much to prepare us for the long-term, and, if memory serves, his draft picks weren't too great either. Way overrated, in my opinion.

Polian did not build us with draft picks. He did it with free agents. That is the only way to get better quickly when you are an expansion team. He did what JR wanted done and did it well.

He did have some long term success. Wesley Walls was here a long time. Moose was here a long time. Collins had a long career even though it was not here.

Polian was average here, imho. I think that his stay in Indy showed that as well. Adding to that is he was/is such a prick to deal with. Not too many folks in the league would disagree.

Jacksonville went young and also made their conference championship game that second season.
