Sure, but don't you remember how he screwed this franchise before jumping ship to Indy?

And I agree with John Clayton that Irsay won't let the Colts just cut Peyton. Luck will spend this season on the bench if Manning doesn't agree to restructure his contract in a way that would allow him to be traded. I'm guessing Peyton stays the whole season because Irsay wants another playoff run, then they trade Peyton next off-season.

If Irsay keeps Peyton for another playoff run that's beyond lower than stupid. This team is rebuilding and waiting another year is stupid. They would be better suited to start the process now regardless of the Manning situation. But glad to see that Hurney wasn't the only idiot GM signing stupid contracts.

Say they do keep him a year longer, he is so-so, a year older, what would they really get for him in trade value? Too much of a risk if you ask me.

Petyon' contract and potential cap hit will be a big issue if they try to move him this offseason.

I don't disagree with you about the Colts needing to rebuild, but describing Peyton like this is absurd. There's no chance of him being "so-so." He's a tremendous quarterback who should still have another two or three years of greatness followed by another three or four of second tier production.

You can't trade anyone until the beginning of the next league year, and Peyton's big bonus is due before then.

I have heard players talk about the surgery he had from both sides. Some saying it's a really great success or being healthy of some saying the opposite. It's still a calculated risk. I just don't see the reason to draft Luck if you are thinking Peyton is going to be there 5-7 more years, with 2-3 starting or more. Luck sitting one year is one thing, him sitting longer than that would be stupid.

But yes, I would want a healthy Manning over most any QB in the league aside from maybe 2 or 3, factoring in age and health. That entire team is what the Panthers were last year aside from 2 or 3 players.

I don't think Peyton would stay there that long. Irsay probably just wants one crack at the playoffs and then go to Luck. I just can't see him pushing Peyton out the door and getting nothing in return the way that Richardson did with Peppers.

That's really the problem with contracts like that, you are fucked if that player doesn't produce, get's hurt or whatever. I honestly don't see a positive way out of that situation for them. Say Manning comes back and is as good as before, do you really trade him at that point? Then when it's too late, well it's too late if you wait until later. I wouldn't want to play the guessing game on this situation that's for sure.
