"You can't compare Cam to Tebow. I think Cam's a more complete player," Smith said. "Tebow has the wins. But everybody wants to crown Tebow. Yes, he has the will to win. I think Tebow is no different than any other professional (in that way). But Tebow has a great opportunity to play behind a great defense."

Denver has allowed the fourth-fewest points in the league; the injury-plagued Panthers defense ranks 22nd in points allowed.

I don't see that as throwing our D under the bus. Everyone just wants to sensationalize things. I'd guess our d would say they're struggling.

Except that Denver's defense is also well below average, just not quite as bad as Carolina's.

Denver's defense has kept them in games this year and come up with big plays. If they have a QB that can go 3 for 16 for the first 3 quarters and then still have a chance to win it at the end... then the defense is doing something well, and with very little help from the offense.

Denver's defense did suck last year... and that's why they got John Fox. Our Defense was already pretty good, and last year played opposite one of the worst offenses in the league. Rivera comes in here and claims he's going to have a heavy hand on the Defense and we suck ass.

As far as 4th in points allowed... what the fuck is that? Is he talking about just the last 5 games?

Steve Smith is a cunt and when life turns bad for him (and it will eventually) it will be enjoyable...on an OJ level.

For the year they are slightly below average. But they have done a turnaround since Tebow became the starter to a slightly above average team.

The average for the year for their defense allowed 357.1 YPG ranked 19th and 23.2 PPG ranked 22nd.

Prior to Tebow their defense was allowing 385.8 YPG ranking them 28th and 28 PPG ranking them 30th.

Since Tebow starting their defense has allowed 339.1 YPG ranking 16th and 20.25 PPG ranking them 11th.

Another key factor for the team has been turnovers. they were -6 with Orton as starter and +1 with Tebow which I hope somebody lets Cam know this.

More than slightly. As noted, they were only 8 yards different from Carolina's defense coming into this weekend.

Nope, as the numbers stated via the rankings I listed, they are where I said they were. Of course your opinion of said statement could vary depending on what specific point you want to argue.

:beatdeadhorse5: points per game is the most important stat, yards given up is kinda secondary.

Denver's defense until Brady ass raped them hasn't been giving up a lot of points, helping Tebow quite a bit. Tebow in turn has helped them out by eating up clock and until today not turning the ball over. Our defense while mediocre at best, has been giving up more points. Cam has not helped them by going to shit in the second half of games and turning the ball over is our losses.
