NOthing to do with Panthers game but I was peeved when I saw this: aaron Rodgers fumbles on 1st and goal and the Raiders recover it and return it 90 yards for a touchdown. It was ruled an incomplete pass after a challenege and Packers kept the ball. During the TD return, the Raiders were called for a illegal block. So my questions is, why does GB get to take advantage of a penalty that happened on a play that doesnt exist and run 1st down again? In this game its meaning less as GB is blowing them out but I dont see the reasoning behind it. Only a personal foul should "stand" on a play like this IMO

Yeah that doesn't seem right. If there is a rule that calls for that, bad rule. Bad refs seem more likely.

I don't disagree with your criticism, that just seems to be the style of the offense where Cam looks deep and then comes to the dumpoff. It would be nice to run more slants & drags with Steve as well as more outs & curls with Shockey.

    Second Half:
1st-10, CAR12 11:14 M. Ryan incomplete pass to the left
2nd-10, CAR12 11:07 M. Ryan incomplete pass to the left
3rd-10, CAR12 11:02 M. Ryan incomplete pass to the right
    4th-10, CAR12 10:55 M. Bryant kicked a 30-yard field goal

    2nd-17, CAR30 4:46 W. Moore intercepted C. Newton for 29 yards
    Atlanta - 4:46
1st-10, CAR24 4:46 M. Ryan incomplete pass to the right
2nd-10, CAR24 4:40 M. Ryan incomplete pass to the right
    3rd-10, CAR24 4:34 M. Ryan sacked by J. Anderson and C. Johnson
    4th-14, CAR28 3:58 M. Bryant missed a 46-yard field goal

1st-10, ATL35 10:41 M. Turner rushed to the left for 1 yard loss
2nd-11, ATL34 10:08 M. Ryan passed to R. White to the right for 9 yard gain
3rd-2, ATL43 9:32 M. Ryan incomplete pass to the right
    4th-2, ATL43 9:18 M. Bosher punt, no return

So they did make some stops or force field goal attempts, the offense just kept shitting the bed. Sherrod Martin whiffing so badly on the 75 yard touchdown was inexcusable, though.

I like him, and am disposed to give him this year as a learning year.

However, it is the same shit we heard like 10/12 games ago. Young, gonna learn, can't inflict penalties on ourselves, yada yada. Still doing it though.

When Cam throws an INT, it's his teammates responsibility to strip the ball out to regain possession.

and for similar reasons. It's not that the O was stellar first half, they had a few big plays. In the 2nd half, they had a few less things work, gave up two really stupid INT, and that's it. I mean the D had no real chance out there, short ass field all that time.

I don't begrudge the screens. There were screens that went for 40 and 20 yards. They don't run that stupid screen to Smith. The problem is, you have to execute a screen, like we didn't on 2nd and 5 there at the end of the game. Just like you have to put out good plays on 1st, 3rd, and 4th, and your QB should be aware you need 5, not 35, so don't throw 35 every down with the game on the line.

definitely need to be more dig routes with two TE on the field all the time. One can run something short. It is entirely the O, with the deep to short. It's really the same type of tiered passing as the WCO, it's just read differently.

But some young QBs do struggle with this. Remember that fucking stupid red/green thing with Sanchez? This is why. There's almost always a deep route, and people who think storybook endings are real that also play QB think that getting the deep route when you have four fucking downs to get five yards, is the right throw three of those four downs.
