I never said that Dalton would be better than Cam over the long-term. In fact, I've been consistent before and since the draft in saying that Newton was the best QB prospect available in 2011. Also, since I originally posted that Dalton has been making more mistakes. The reason you'd like him better as a rookie is his experience as a four-year starter and game-manager who should be better at being efficient and avoiding turnovers. You could still argue that he's been better than Cam so far this season, especially if you consider that Newton had a lot of yards and two passing touchdowns in the last minute of garbage time against Chicago & Green Bay.

andy dalton has taken an offense that on paper is worse than the panthers and led the bengals to a 5-2 record. newton is 2-6 and has sucked when it counted.

As awesome as A.J. Green has been for a rookie, he's no Steve Smith. Then their only other two wideouts with at least two catches are Jerome Simpson and Andre Caldwell.

Dalton has played well, but you have to look at the team overall. The Bengals defense and special teams are worlds better than ours. Cam has played well enough to win more than 2 games if our D and ST was even mediocre.
