I judge him also on being fired from the Eagles after fielding a defense that was a mess most of the time. He had a terrible redzone defense, and some of his own players didn't like him. He's an x's and o's guy, sure. Sometimes you can outsmart yourself. He's known as this kind of guy. And he got run out of town because some shoes were too big to fill. And he hasn't done squat here yet.

We should've told Jack Del Rio that when he came to town a long time ago...he was supposed to suck.

I realize great DCs don't grow on trees, I just have never liked McD much. Even before he came here. It would be like Jim Caldwell coming to coach here, whom I think is the worst HC in the history of the game- (not that I think McD is anything close to) - but us saying....give him a chance, if the team was sucking.

Nah. I judge him on his entire body of work. No different than with McDermott, who's done some good things, but was overall really average.

Tell owners around the league that. We (32 NFL teams) all have the same issues, strat. Some coaches, like Harbaugh and the 49ers, are doing just fine with the same kind of offseason.

Kind of like Collin not liking Newton even before he came here?

With 2 rookies starting at DT and Beason and TDavis out for the year we should have seen this coming. We simply cannot consistently stop the run and we probably won't be able to all season long. The coaching staff knows this and is hoping that one or both of the rookie DT shows enough to be considered starting material NEXT YEAR.

There was interesting segment in yesterday's Packers game discussing the change Rogers made to his mechanics between his 2nd and 3rd years. I took that as a encouraging reminder that it can be done.

The thing is his mechanics are fine. it's being consistent that he struggles with. When he sets his feet he's as accurate as you'd want. His throwing motion and arm strength are fine. The problem is he relies on his arm too much. Sometimes it looks as if he's indecisive and forces a ball he should throw away or reset his feet on. Other times he's dead accurate. It's not as if he has a wacky motion or slow release to deal with. More mental than physical.

Except instead of an old, immobile QB we have a brand new one.

16th in QB rating, 20th in Total QBR, and two of his passing touchdowns came in garbage time when the game was already over.
