I'll tell you why I'm doing it. It's because Newton is critical to the team's future, while bumfuckrandomLB isn't. I'm focused on 2012 / 2013 / 2014, so I want to see improvement on flaws that will hold Cam back unless they're fixed. It frustrates me because it's dumb and unnecessary. I don't nag on Newton not recognizing coverage because I don't expect any rookie QB to be able to do that at the NFL level this early, but he should be stepping into his throws.

Agreed with that point alone. What frustrates me, is even with his problems, we can be winning now. We're good enough.

The only silver lining I can think of is, maybe we'll be in position to draft a fucking DL that can help save this leaky defense.

you expected him to start to make an immediate impact? you expected him to be #3 in the nfl in passing yards or that our offense went from last to #3 in the nfl?

you're only harping on flaws we know because you were wrong on him and his being able to make an impact this year. give it up already.

I disagree about that. I never felt like the Panthers should have won against Chicago, merely that the opportunity was there. Arizona was more up for grabs, but in large part because the Cardinals were playing terribly.

And keep in mind that my reaction isn't unique to Cam. When Matt Ryan was doing well his rookie season, people were saying that I was proven wrong about him not being a franchise quarterback. I said that he was doing very well for a rookie, but let's see if he continued to improve and actually did become elite. He clearly hasn't. Same for the Josh Freeman hype last season, which I similarly questioned.

Fair enough, we just disagree, and that's cool. At least you support your claims with your evidence.

I do believe Cam Newton and Matt Ryan are two QBs most coaches would love to have on their roster. Or at least, Cam can, and I believe will, get there.

I don't see how we can judge McD yet. We knew when this team was assembled we would have problems inside up front. All we did to help that was sign one aging vet DT, of course we never got to see if he'd have helped.

D was down our best two LBs, Gamble, with the two rooks inside up front.

Granted we were pathetic (Forte gained like two or nine yards the previous week), but a chef must have proper ingredients to make a good meal. You can't make steak from vienna sausages.

We're should try to hold off on judging our staff as a whole until they have a proper offseason to work with.

As far as Cam, he's doing far better than I expected but he hasn't put but about 30 minutes of the good stuff into a 60 minute game so far. That 50% of good stuff has been a bright light but he still has a way to go. The bad stuff is bad.

He definitely needs to straighten out those mechanics. I'm not gonna bet against that but it's tough to retrain and not backslide when the bullets are flying. It's going to take time even if he works his ass off (and I tend to believe he will do that).

But he doesn't play ST or D and those units have had some disasters. If some of these breakdowns don't happen, we're probably 2-2 or maybe better.

    IMO.

Cam has room to get better for sure but he is putting up numbers and moving the ball. He is already better than most of the QBs we have ever had. Except for a couple of good seasons each from Bline and Delhomme no one strikes me as being better than Cam is right now.

Meeks defense last year was decent with the same basic talent. He did have Beason but he was out of position part of the year. If last year's defense had gotten some help from the offense it would have looked much better. I kinda wish they had just kept him on as DC. The players would already know the scheme and that would be huge.

Special teams just blow, I am not sure what they should do about them. Two of our three losses had the winning margin provided by special teams scores by our opponent.

Don't forget the big DT we signed but has yet to play a regular season snap yet. Cam has some things to work on but considering he has played 4 real games he's doing well.
