For total offense yesterday - 543 yards.

Crazy. If they can figure out how to win, they'll be one of the funnest teams to watch in the NFL.

for all their faults, they certainly are fun to watch offensively. moreso than they were in 1999.

they need to replace LA, get the STs in order and figure out how to gel on D. Tackling needs to be addressed as well.

While I'm not surprised the defense is struggling considering the personnel, I'm kinda surprised how BAD they're struggling, what with Rivera's track record.

    I'm not, considering McDermott's.

McDermott is a good coach, so knock that off. Clearly Philadelphia's defense has gotten much worse without him. The two problems are that the scheme is complicated, which means it's difficult for young guys to learn, and that there isn't a lot of talent left on defense. It's great that the Panthers stole Hardy because he's the only defensive lineman besides Johnson giving the team anything, while the secondary consists of middle round draft picks and other team's castoffs. They'll have games where they look good (Green Bay) and games where they don't.

I kind of expected this out of the defense. When you look at the injuries for the season you can't expect the defense to be very good. The talent level isn't there right now. They could do a better job tackling though.

No, he's average at very best. The Eagles defense is suffering because they replaced him with an offensive coach. True though, that we're injured and that's a big reason we're struggling, but we couldn't stop the run when we had most of our starters back there either. Not much has changed.

But let's make a deal. I'll knock it off when you stop ripping Cam Newton after a loss, when he's one of the only reasons we were in the game to begin with. :D

No, because I'm right and you're wrong. You know as well as I do that Newton is throwing off his back foot on the majority of his throws, and that it's led to his inaccuracy and most of the interceptions. You also know that there have been at least five more potential interceptions this season that defenders have dropped, including one by Jennings yesterday. It's ironic that the fantasy football columnist is the one looking beyond the stats.

I do know you're right about those things, and as much of a Cam Newton mark as I am, I've acknowledged them. They drive me crazy too. But it's frustrating when an intelligent fan such as yourself goes to him first thing.

What about the defense and STs? I believe as much as you and mags frequent this board, you have a bit of a responsibility to give the other posters here some food for thought there. Not just Cam. You are right about him doing that. But you're wrong in singling him out after a loss.

We lost because of a number of things, least of which was #1.

Edit- No, I'm not wrong about McDermott, either. :D
