He hasn't proven he "can be" elite either. Do you think Dolphins fans feel like Chad Henne proved that he can be an elite quarterback because he passed for 416 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception? (had 1 rushing TD as well, to make the comparison even more incredible)

Weinke did his in trash time. Team was down 14 points, he had 61 attempts, and he threw three picks.

And sure, he was a better quarterback than in preseason. He threw for 40% in preseason, some of which was against second stringers. This game, he threw for 60%. That's better. There's no doubt of that.

I don't feel as good about it today as I do from Sunday, but I'm still pleased. It's OK to be pleased. It doesn't make him a Pro Bowler.

The one where the Cardinals left receivers wide ass open.

Newton's gonna suck ass sometimes this year, and there will be games where he can't find an open receiver. He didn't miraculously get accurate.

He will struggle, and w the Cards, he easily could've had two INTs in that game.

That being said, it's just terribly dishonest to compare what he did last week to Henne and Grossman, both of which have been in the league for a while, and who didn't face a defense that was blitzing relentlessly.

I think this DOES show he CAN be an elite quarterback. I mean, Christ Collin, you're as fucking bright as anyone here, and you're not talking about the intangibles here.

This kid came out with almost no real experience, with a lockout to boot, and faced the blitz and kept his composure almost the entire game.

I believe he lost it a little toward the end, when he was getting close...I think he unravelled a bit there, and he knows it. But he operated our defense, didn't get quick feet, he held the ball too long sometimes, but sometimes he got it out fast, he passed with touch even in the face of pressure.

Those are great foundation points to be a great quarterback in this league, and with practice, training, and reps on the technical issues, he will get better.

So if he's poised...he can make all the throws...he's a duel threat...cool under pressure...and practices hard, why on earth wouldn't you think he even has the capability to be elite?

    I don't get it, bro.

I assure you also, that I don't think he's going to be all world this year. He will struggle, and I imagine GB will kick him around pretty good. I just am very pleased with what he did with his first outing, and if our defense doesn't play like it did, we win that game.
