    Yet another reminder to be thankful that Hurney was unable to trade into the 1st to take Clausen.

    What I love about Cam in comparison to Jimmy is that Newton will take shots downfield and give his receivers a chance to make a play. I thought Clausen would be that way too since he did it at Notre Dame, but he's played scared in the NFL. Newton isn't scared, and that's fun to watch.

    It's way too early to judge cammy just yet, but one has to admit, he's much funner to watch than what we've had for a while.

    And you are correct, Clausen looked totally different in college.

    There is also a huge variance between coaching philosophies, coordinators and supporting casts.

    Cam has as many yards and touchdowns after one game as I expected from him all year. He is a different guy than what I thought. He looks a little like John Elway out there.

    Cam's a better quarterback NFL than Jimmy. Or Jamarcus Russell. Or most of the other lazy comparisons that have been made of him. He played an NFL game. Zona gave him a heavy blitz which left our recievers one on one against their awful secondary. We may not get that again. But still, he was poised against a blitz and kept his eyes downfield. You don't get that from most NFL QBs, much less a "running" one.

    I still think there's going to be a lot more downs than ups this year. But we should feel encouraged. That's reasonable.

    After 1 game he's close to cracking the top 10 in all time yardage for Panther QBs. I know that's not saying much but still...
