If Schwartz doesn't return

Bernadeau has never been able to play on the right side for what ever the reason. He admitted as much last year. If Schwartz stays out do you keep Bern at RG, see if Duke has grown up, give Bell a shot. Pugh?

 

Why is it that RG always seems to be a black hole for this team? Vincent is about the only solid one I can think of.

 

Not sure. I was hoping we would pick up Marcus Canon in the draft for that reason.

 

Jeff Otah quote from Fowler article (Charlotte Observer 8/28/11):

If Schwartz doesn't return, isn't Otah a critical "missing piece or key"? Not sure I understand his comment. Seems like he should be less humble and more ego-driven given the state of the o-line at this point.

I imagine he doesn't want to be under the microscope since he's just now playing in a new system.

Still wondering what the hell happend to Duke. He was a beast his junior year in college. Is it a maturity issue, conditioning?

 

Schwartz didn't break anything, and I doubt has/will have had surgery on anything, so he'll be back. But at this point I'm going to unfortunately guess not for game 1.

Either way we have to have some depth on the line. Any veteran, because I'm seeing very little redeeming ability from Robinson and Bernadeau, despite how strong he's supposed to be, seems to be just unable to be good outside of LG. This time, as well, I'd like to see them a bit less hesitant to move Wharton out. He's a good tackle, and we can't afford to have three good players on one side.

 

I wonder how Wharton would do at RT? He was decent at LT and I would not really want to see us move Gross again. How about:

Gross, Bernadeau, Kalil, Unknown Vet, Wharton?

That is all assuming Otah and Schwartz are both out.

 

Otah practiced the last two days and was ale to do more then expected... fwiw

 

Yeah I was excited to see Schwartz this year. He hasn't practiced at all since FanFest is that right? Doubt he will be back for week one.

As for other options, we have few. Bernadeu looks pretty awful and Robinson looks amazingly out of shape. I doubt Robinson makes the team even. We might as well try that rookie because nobody else has shown any ability. I'm guessing we sign some vet to fill the void.

That being said I don't think Otah and other will dramatically save our Oline. They simply have to play better and not get driven backwards which seems to have been happening a lot
