Some ancient names there. Recent history would suggest a different trend.

Quinn, FWIW, is now Foxy's #2 and looks pretty sharp.

Then again, Newton's situation is unique (as Collin points out) coming from a one-read system, and missing OTA's.

There are things about Clausen's physical game I don't like: 3/4 delivery, wide stance pre-throw, short in the pocket. And as I have stated, I do like his accuracy, particularly on the perimeter. So, it's not as if I'm taking a big heaping shit on Jimmy.

I just don't see Clausen's impact being any more substantial than Newton's, and if you know you're future is with Newton, what the fuck are you wasting your time on?

Perhaps Marty Hurney's hitler video would sum this up best?

And your input is appreciated--thanks. But, seriously....go badger your old pen-pal Sorensen or Rachel Nichols about "CAM'S SMILE LIGHTING UP THE CITY", because my reporting on the QB situation has been the antithesis of fluff.

I actually asked several questions to Rivera--real football questions--that he spent several minutes explaining, in detail. Followed by: "Ron, how do you feel about Cam's confidence", or "Ron, tell us about the impact of Cam on the city of Charlotte since his arrival?"

    PASSHUN!

Chud, at camp, was running a vastly different variety of plays and formations for Newton v. Clausen. May have only been part of the "breaking-in" process.

I know I picked them to win 8 games, and most are picking like 1 to 5. But I don't think for a minute that Rivera--even if some feel he's an idealistic moron--is telling his staff in private: "Well, fuck it....we're not going anywhere."

Truthfully, what I think doesn't mean a fucking thing as far as what will be installed, called and executed on Sundays. Kinda know my place in the order of things.

Oh, and....until someone other than a reporter from Charlotte draws a conclusion from Rivera's quotes that Cam is almost certainly the official starter for week one, I'm not ready to say that Clausen is out of the race. Rivera has not named a starter, and though I've laid out my case for Newton, I'm not posting on the blog or reporting in any freelance filings that he's penciled-in.

oh well, fuck it. I don't like it right now but I'm not going to stomp around because the team doesn't go back in time and do what I wanted. Let's hope he can convert a fucking third down or two against Cincy.

They'll use a lot of bootleg stuff to take advantage of Newton's mobility, which is great. But I suspect that a lot of the difference is that Chud has to use extremely simplified plays for Newton, whereas Clausen is mentally capable of understanding any play concept. If you could put Jimmy's intellect in Cam's body (keeping Cam's personality), then you'd have something.

He's in. If Newton was just starting the next game that wouldn't necessarily be proof, but them stating that he gets the first three quarters is definitive. Cam would have to crap all over the field to not start Week 1. I mean some major diarrhea.
