sure, Capers had a hand in it. Hurney has a hand in things now. That doesn't mean that they have 'control'. I'm saying that Richardson has a pretty big say. Your ideals of him waiting to put a signature on a check are outside reality. The idea that Seifert had 100% control squarely flew out the window when 'he' put together a team he didn't want to put together in 2001.

And yes, links seem reasonable when you're telling me what I really think about something.

Links from ten years ago when you already know the sites in question no longer exist could hardly be considered "reasonable."

I've talked about it plenty "within the last decade", "you chose that example to question", and you said "No, actually you denied his involvement in the Gilbert things for years, and only changed your opinion in the last couple." So clearly I must've said something within the last couple years on it.

Or you could've "picked the example from 2007", or "shut the fuck up about it if you had no actual proof when trying to correct me on my opinion."

I'm sorry I didn't save pages from the Lair and the old Observer website in anticipation that you would dramatically change your opinion on the Capers era, but I remember precisely because we had some of our first ridiculous arguments over it.

and I just happen to have never said a word about it in the last 9 years, you didn't bother contesting the other ways I said he's meddled, and had I made that statement against you, you'd be blathering on about intellectual dishonesty and other nonsense if I didn't have the same proof you're suggesting doesn't exist.

Actually, I almost never ask people for links. Also, kudos for never explaining why George Seifert supposedly came out of retirement to coach for a bad team if JR was going to keep personnel control as you claimed.

I'm not sure Seifert ever wanted control, but I don't pretend to know. I know JR didn't want a GM, and at the time that was the style. You could see where not hiring a GM would allow access to alter the plan, and you could see where hiring an in-house GM would help with that, too.

See? It's not hard to answer questions, whether it be about your typical reaction to me making a claim I couldn't prove (which would be, again, a hissy that could turn on car alarms) or any of the other things.

Since you are so into intellectual honesty, perhaps you could point out where I said he decided to be more hands on specifically about the football side only. He fired his fucking kids - one of whom he had publicly positioned to be the face of the organization. Let's not pretend that he felt like the only thing he cared about was reorging the business operations of an organization that was making money hand over fist.

Come on, just be honest for once. You certainly know that Seifert only came to Carolina because he would have full personnel control, and that he turned down other opportunities because they didn't offer it.

    http://articles.sfgate.com/1999-01-...defensive-backfield-coach-george-seifert-love

"Carolina owner Jerry Richardson, a former NFL player, will give Seifert the free hand in personnel decisions that he wanted. Although Seifert will not have the title of general manager -- the Panthers don't have one -- Richardson believes in giving his coach control, much like many other successful coaches, such as Mike Shanahan, Bill Parcells, Dan Reeves and Jimmy Johnson. And Seifert's contract also puts him into their stratosphere in pay."

    http://157.166.224.103/football/nfl/news/1999/01/04/panthers_seifert/

"Seifert, who also will have the final say in player personnel moves, replaces Dom Capers, who was fired eight days ago. "

    http://articles.philly.com/1999-01-...er-jerry-richardson-dom-capers-george-seifert

    "
Seifert has been out of coaching the past two years. He won two Super Bowl championships and compiled the best winning percentage in NFL history - .755 with a record of 108-35 - during seven seasons in San Francisco. Seifert wants control over player personnel decisions, but isn't insisting on the title of coach/general manager, the newspaper said.

We're talking about the football side, you complete fucking retard. If you weren't talking about that then you should have stayed out of the thread, but we all know that you only posted because you're incredibly bitter towards me about making you look like a know-nothing idiot so many times.
