We had a lot of bad things going on last year; a coach on his way out, predictable offense, injuries, and bad QB play, but WR was not our problem. As far as our passing attack next year, I'm not basing that opinion on a John Fox style offense. I'm basing it on what Chud did in Cleveland and San Diego, Olsen has the talent to be as good as Gates if not better, and Shockey can still play. Gettis and Lafell are still developing, but they're on par with any other #2 WR in our conference. We have some real offensive weapons, and teams are going to have a hard time stopping us.

    it's not that bad either.

We just don't have a need there. Other arguments in this thread aside, we can definitely scrape together two more WR out of the four young guys we have, that can do enough to cover the balls that 89, the TEs, and Williams aren't getting.

So this guy is rumored to Panthers because Chud coached at SD, where he played last.

We better get another CB before we sign any WR.

Echo sentiments that Having Smitty engaged along with having Olsen and Shockey, Gettis, LeFell, and Edwards. Plus a couple camp fodders in Trent Guy, Charly Martin - who is a ST'mer, and that Auburn kid...

We better be looking at a CB with that Khalil cap money.

don't totally sleep on Wallace Wright. He probably makes too much this year when you factor in what he'll be doing but he knows the Coryell stuff well and he was statistically the best ST tackler 2007-10. Problem for him is same for Clowney (same - knows the O, just isn't that good at ST) and any vet looking to come here, it's crazy to keep 6 WR and two of them are inactive young guys.

It may come down to whether Armanti is our punts/kicks guy.

Yep forgot about both of those.

Big question; Does Armani fold when the hits start coming?

Plug away. It's worth mentioning, you just don't need to post the same thing in five different threads. Keep updating your first one and we'll be happy to read it.

It was one of them. Steve played like crap, LaFell was inconsistent, and Gettis can really only run deep routes. WR is absolutely not a strength for this team; it's actually a major question mark.

Holy shit, dude. No, he really doesn't. The only tight end in the NFL who might be considered more talented than Gates is Vernon Davis, but no one matches Gates' combination of athleticism and skill.

No, they aren't. Not even remotely close, in fact.
