Yeah, that 3rd isn't just beans. This next draft could be loaded so its a gamble. I'm fine with a proven player for that pick regardless.

A 3rd is a high pick but we've been hit or miss in the 2nd and 3rd. If Olsen were in next year's draft, would you pick him in the 3rd? I would.

glossed over that part. Prior to last year (Lafell contributed, so there) the next 3rd round was 2005 (Mathis).

Either way, definitely prefer Olsen to trading back into the second round this year.

Lol, I went to a Bears message board. Before they knew there was no player coming back, some of them were thinking shit like Beason, Otah, Gross plus a late pick.

    from espn,

"As for what Olsen will do in Carolina: He has never had a DVOA (a measure of efficiency per play) above 0 percent since he entered the NFL. Only once has he had a catch rate above 60 percent; the average for tight ends is about 65 percent. He has a rookie quarterback too.In other words, don't expect a big year."

Hearing that Greg Olsen's new deal with Carolina Panthers was 4 years $24 million with $10 million guaranteed.
