I find it oddly ironic that they locked the media out...

 

I don't think its a big deal. As a fan I would have liked to get some details because there has been zero football, but I don't think it was inappropriate.

If Gantt was still on the beat, and he showed up to locked gates and an armed cop, he'd go apeshit.

This is another "bored shitless because of the lockout" non-story story.

 

I would imagine if it were feasible, all practices including "full team" practices in a normal season would be closed to the public. I have no problem with that - their focus SHOULD be on preparing for the season/next game etc, not media relations etc. But that would never fly with the public.

Besides, the media would make a huge issue out of who did and did not show for this practice - Steve Smith (who now is "apparently" disgruntled per reporter) didn't and Cam did.

Steve will do what he wants as is his right, and it's not like the team hasn't put out some feelers about trading him anyway. Why should the team be able to look and he can't? At least he hasn't yet named "the only 4 teams he will play for".

 

I've worked some pretty miserable assignments as a freelancer, so I understand the frustration of an overworked writer looking to fulfill his editor's demands.

That said, it's irrelevant to the performance of the team. I don't, as an observer, need to see any pics or vids of this practice. Many do. I just don't give a shit, and frankly, the outrage from the media about this is much more about their own agenda than "not being able to service our readers/viewers/listeners".

Good god Silver is pissed. I'm guessing he's pissed because he flew all the way to Charlotte to get turned away. He made that shit personal. Then he tries it by saying he's really hurt because the fans don't have access.

 

A little hurt in Gantt's words on twitter. Not that it's surprising.

Guys really sit back and expect to be spoon fed info.
