I am resigned to the fact that we are taking Newton. I still get the feeling we will help develop this guy and then he will go elsewhere, or just not cut it all together.

When we do take him however, I will be routing for him to succeed.

Just wondering how many of you guy would buy his jersey..you know its going to be a big seller in general. And what number do you see him wearing? I hope his isn't arrogant enough to don the #1

Cecil will hire a couple of "gentlemen" to give John Kasay a "Tune-Up". This will clear the way for Newton to don #4, sending even more belligerent Carolinians into an emotional tailspin. To make matters worse, Cecil's "posse" will kidnap Jackie Miles, and force Kasay to wear #13 for his final seasons as a Panther.

DeAngelo's was the last Panthers jersey I'll ever buy.

I'll buy the jersey and cheer my head off for him. He'll be a Panther, and unless he's a complete douche ala Albert Haynesworth, I'll root for him.

I've never wasted money on that shit.

Spoon gave me a jersey back in '05, which was cool, considering he was ballin' and the defense was top-5. Then, he took the money, moved to STL, and (allegedly, reportedly) wrecked his home. Good times.

Interacting with the players is fun. I knew DW's RBs coach at Memphis really well, so we chatted about that. I also remember mentioning to Jeff King about how he had the top times in all the TE combine agility drills and he got a big grin on his face. Bob Christian was an absolute dick, though.

Obviously the Panthers weren't my original football team, so I'm not diehard for them like I am the Orioles or Tar Heels. It's not like I'm jumping ship to another franchise, but the organization has just worn me down to the point that I didn't even watch Panthers games this past season unless my granddad wanted to (and he usually wanted to watch golf). Plus I'm too old for the jersey game, although I break out the Mills #51 from time to time. That DW alternate was pretty sweet, and I had a Peppers authentic, but with them leaving town there's just not really any point to buying any more. Throwbacks are probably the way to go, but Carolina hasn't existed long enough to justify any of those.

HA: Bob Christian being a dick. Awesome shit.

Spoon and Morgan are business partners with a close relative. Spoon took us out to dinner at The Cheesecake Factory right after the Jets game in 2005. Very cool dude, but kept talking about how he didn't think he would get a deal done. "Ain't a priority for them, I guess" were his exact words. Nice guy, though.

No point in buying a jersey. It is only socially acceptable to wear them on gamedays anyway, but can we get past this hopelessness for the Carolina Panthers. At least we have experienced success even if they are few and far between. Try being a Bobcat fan with the realization that the Bobcats will never have a chance to win an NBA title.

I mean damn Collin, you are an Orioles fan. If you can survive the 1988 Orioles season, can't we all stay strong in our support for the Panthers.
