Marty just signed off on a radio interview with Kirwan and Ryan.

He said the word "Cam" about 6,000,000,000 times. Perhaps an exageration, but only slightly. I thought I would see a dozen Cam Newtons wearing oversized processed containers walking down the street singing "CAM CAM CAM CAM."

When taking about Blaine Gabbert, he said the phrase "just like Cam" a couple of dozen times. As in, "He can make all the NFL throws, just like Cam."

When talking about Clausen, he said he thought "Jimmy will be a good young quarterback in this league, but we need to solidify the quarterback position." Translated to, we are going to draft Cam and try and pawn my mistake onto someone else for whatever we can take.

The picks been made. He's either laying the thickest smokescreen ever to try and get a trade up, or we are taking Cam. Listening to Marty, I'd think Cam was Marino, Elway, and Montana rolled into one player. The praise was a little much, and I'm a Cam guy.

I heard that interview, and FWIW, Hurney's a pretty good interview.

Later in the show (Tim Ryan/Pat Kirwan), the subject of Mallett came up. Kirwan was slobbering about Mallett's skills:

    *Plays faster than his 40-time
    *Excellent arm
*Three-step drops: ball is coming out ON the 3rd step, not after like the others.

Kirwan's probably the only one of the "insiders" on my "fav's list" that isn't sold on Newton. Which, hey, I don't know if anyone is ever sold on anybody. Dolphins: do you think they would have enjoyed having Matt Ryan in 2011, rather than Jake Long? I mean, for as much shit as Ryan gets around here and other places, he's pretty good. Long--apparently he's good too, but he's not a player that touches the ball on every snap. LT's are critical, but between the Dolphins and the Browns (Joe Thomas), how has the W/L deal worked out in the past few seasons?

I think he's trade baiting. I have a hard time believing JR would sign off on taking Newton. The few high risk/reward gambles have taken in the past haven't worked out so well.

And thats the problem with Mallett. His passing talent will make you drool. A Marino type.

But the Intangibles are very concerning, major bust potential. He was the man at QB but wasnt a team leader, quite rare and there are reasons for that.

On Grudens show he brings in John friggen Daly for advice for Mallet. Does it get much worse than that, really?

The Newton one should be worth checking out im sure.

If we could trade down I might want to see us take Mallet. He does have issues but if he dropped to the second round it might not be bad.
