I'll own it too. And yeah, i still think something can be salvaged there.
I just dont have much hope as a starter next year in another new system, albeit a better one.

If FA was available, id be down Bulger or Palmer and letting him sit 2 more years. But what would it cost.

Kolb at his value is out of the question.

But how longterm/shortterm are those options.

If we could do that, trade down, id be down with Green, Dareus, Fairley, Peterson or Jones.

Add Kyle Rudolph or DJ Williams and weve got some interesting pieces.

Rivera, if he's smart, which he is, will have no starting quarterback to start training camp. Clausen may surprise with a healthy toe. For real. Drafting Newton gains the franchise nothing, except maybe a little bling.

Trade out? Trade down? How far?

Yes, but no lower than 10, and for nothing less than a second round pick and a #1 next year. Otherwise, go get Dareus and call it a day.

No to Bulger. Please. No McNabb. Pretty please.

    Gracias and goodnight.

If I am Rivera I find a QB who can play at a decent level next season. That means not a rookie or a QB currently on our roster. It means Palmer, Orton, McNabb, etc. If he does that we go from 2 wins to at least 8. He looks like a genius and gets more confidence from everyone.

Bulger definitely fits. I've been singing that Bulger, Volek, Grossman, and others have that experience with our coaching. Palmer, too. People tend to ignore that Grossman has experience with our coach and our system.

Which, our scheme is intuitive, and not as hard to learn. It's more the idea that you know he can do the things you want, that you're spending less time teaching him why you're doing it this way.

you have to have some options, though. I've argued in the past that Clausen needs another shot, but that doesn't mean he should be forced to start regardless. You have to have a player who's done it before.

    Narwocki again:

Auburn QB Cam Newton — Make no mistake about it — when an athlete is extremely talented, capable of winning championships and advancing the careers of coaches and proliferating the profile of programs, he is going to have supporters who loyally will stand by him through thick and thin. Newton won championships, advanced careers and has his share of supporters. Some of his teammates also admittedly have been less than forthcoming in interviews because they do not want to be viewed as bad teammates. Nonetheless, Newton's immaturity remains a considerable issue that has been well-documented and includes multiple incidents of theft and academic cheating. Very concerning is his enormous ego and lack of humility that could make it extremely difficult for him to handle a leadership position at one of the most demanding leadership positions in all of sports. He still figures to be a top-10 selection, but whether he can prove to be a long-term solution 3-5 years from now is very much a doubt in the minds of many NFL decision-makers. "Only the tip of the iceberg has (been reported) about (Newton)," one NFL executive said. "He has won two national championships, won the Heisman (Trophy) and had great production in one year. He's an athlete with a strong arm. But there is so much there. ... Mark my words — the team that drafts him will have an owner who reports to himself or a GM who is planning to be retired on the beach in three years."

I don't know if I can remember a player that has such vastly different reviews. His spectrum goes from "thug who ought to be locked up" all the way up to Black Jesus.

So the real question is "is it worth drafting Newton just so we can see Hurney go in a couple of years?"

It's also impossible to tell if the whole thing is subterfuge. I'd guess more of that going on this year due to cba.

No way to see who is signable, either. Signability has been left undiscussed here on TBR.

    Says blinn coach Franchione:

When asked if he believed that Newton would be successful in a West Coast scheme like what Jay Gruden is putting in with the Bengals, Franchione offered an honest assessment of Newton, saying: “He has to be brought along and needs to have a good teacher and people around him. It would be midseason before he could start and be successful. Cam though seems to be at his best when he can feed off the negative energy. He’s one of the fiercest competitors that I know.

I like that. He's the anti-carr, clausen, etc. Wonder how he'll react to being picked #1 overall?

    I didn't like this:

said he saw Newton improve throwing and added that he had one of the best deep vertical arms that he had seen. While his short and intermediate passes improved, Franchione said that they still had a tendency to sail at times.

Really, seems like we're hearing all the same shit.
