Yeah just saw that. Leaves us with who - joe person and steve reed?

Like him or not, Gantt was the most active. Sucks for him, and his family. I'll miss him.

He took a furlough last month, or maybe it was February.

The business is unkind. Gantt, from what I've been told, was a hard worker. Not everyone loved his approach, and I have been critical at times, but it's not an easy gig.

That said, it's somewhat possible--speculation--that egos collided internally. Who the hell knows.

Reed has always been rock solid, and I think Person has delivered the news on the straightest line since last year.

Sidebar: it's probably a good idea, with the economy we're in, for anyone who has been demoted/reassigned but still retains a position with their company to not post their opinions on the matter via-Twitter. But, not my problem.

It'll be interesting to see how the media industry shakes out. So much information available from non-paid guys, but non-paid guys typically have so much less access to sources ( lack of credentials ). Wonder if teams will start being more liberal with credentials to bloggers.

I still think one of the more interesting stories of modern sports media is Mike Florio. From obscure NFLTalk to a weekly spot next to peter king and bob costas on sunday night football. Good on him.

The local beat, already weak, suffers by losing gantt.
