    how to persuade a shockey

Hurney to Shockey, "Why don't you come up to Carolina and play ball for us. We gonna emphasize the TE in our offense."

    Shockey, "Who's your QB?"

    Hurney, "Clausen"

Shockey, "Go F yourself. I'd rather wade in a pool of hog piss."

Hurney, "Would 4 million change your mind?"

Shockey, "Like I said, go f yourself."

Hurney, "But we are going to draft Cam."

Shockey, "Really? Hell yeah! This is gonna be fun."

Not going to happen. Even if we do draft him, NO WAY he is under center on opening day. Another 1-15 season is NOT an option, and it is a virtual guarantee if we start a "one read then tuck and run" wonder at QB. Not to mention he'd probably end up on IR after two games once he gets blown up by a LB.

ok. So who does Dareus compare to at the NFL level? If you say Warren Sapp, great. If you tell me Kemoeatu McFarland (solid, but no chance to be great) then we need to roll the dice with someone who CAN be great.

So one person asks me about the most stable pick, another wants to compare said player to unrelated players to compare to the QB he wants instead. I honestly don't know how to properly tell you what want validated.

Theres no doubt we would want a more ready guy. And with the expected new rook rules we may have our top pick for only 4 years.

And you're sure it didn't go...

    Shockey, "Who's your QB?"

    Hurney, "Clausen"

Shockey, "Sign me the fuck up!"

No, I'm not trying to be a dick, I'm basically seeing if you can sway me toward Dareus over Newton. I have not watched the guy, but what I read is that he is a high character, high motor guy who uses good technique. That comparison sounds like Adam Carriker to me, who is a solid guy for the Redskins, but is by no means a star. If that is an accurate comparison, then while it's not technically a bust (like Piper corrected me on regarding Dorsey), it's not going to do much to right the teams ship, and I feel like we need to aim for someone with more upside.

So he's destined to have the same career as another player based on 3 factors? And you haven't even watched him?

Cam Newton has a strong arm, mobility and iffy accuracy. That sounds like Kyle Boller to me.
