Other Busts from the last decade:

    Vernon Ghoulston DE
    Troy Williamson WR
    Charles Rogers WR
    Mike Williams WR
    Ted Ginn Jr. WR
    Mike Williams OT
Robert Gallery OT (a decent guard now, but still, 2nd overall)
    Ryan Simms DT
    Dewayne Robertson DT

Just becauase its a not a QB, doesn't make it safe.

CBSSportsNFL Woah. Per @OmarKelly, Jon Beason likes the Panthers to take Cam Newton No. 1 overall. Has "that 'it' factor"

damn, i woulda thought he'd be pulling for a DT to keep those big-ass OL off him

Don't forget Gerard Warren and Glen Dorsey, both considered "can't miss" DL prospects at the time.

I never said that. I guess my point is that taking a QB first overall because you have a hard-on for a franchise QB is likely a recipe for disaster. It is, in most cases, much more difficult to recover from a QB bust than a bust at other positions. Our problem is that we have the first pick in a draft that doesn't have a player at ANY position that is worthy of that pick.

How else will we find a franchise QB? We've been looking for 17 years.

?? any truth in this statement?

i do think there is at least a tinge of truth in this statement ... It is, in most cases, much more impactive when you find a a great player at QB than any of the other positions.

Dorsey looks like he will turn out to be a decent player. He's at least starting, and had near 70 tackles last year. I define bust as a guy who just can't play at the NFL level.

I can't say that. You'd have to look years in advance. Guys like Suh who come in a an All Pro level as rookies are rare. Most guys are like Chris Long or Mario Williams. Takes a couple of years.
