There are quality QBs available in the later rounds... we just don't have the talent to find the talent.

According to a league source, Newton has also scheduled workouts with Buffalo (which picks third overall), Cincinnati (fourth), Arizona (fifth), Cleveland (sixth), Tennessee (eighth), Washington (10th), Minnesota (12th) and Seattle (25th).
More teams have inquired, but it's growing increasingly likely it will take a top five pick to land him, making Seattle's inquiry interesting.

I think Washington at a minimum will try and trade up. I think they would give up this years and next years first to do it too. Seattle is too far down, I don't know what they would put together to get a realistic package for a trade that far up.

19 of the 32 majority starters from last year came into the league as first rounders.

Of the 14 winning teams, 10 were quarterbacked by first round pick QBs.

Of the final 8 teams, 6 of them were first round pick QBs. All but Cutler played for the team that drafted them.

just leads to thinking that a lot of other teams have scouts as bad as ours. course it also says that 28% of the winning teams were able to find a QB without spending a #1. 25% of the final 8. it would be nice to be in that group.

Arizona is a nice trading partner. 69, next year's first, and Breaston?

On the flip side, here are some guys taken in the first round in the last ten years or so:

    Jamarcus Russell
    Brady Quinn
    Vince Yount
    Matt Leinart
    Alex Smith
    Jason Campell
    JP Losman
    Kyle Boller
    Rex Grossman
    David Carr
    Joey Harrington
    Patrick Ramsey
    Tim Couch
    Akili Smith

Half of these guys were taken in the top ten picks.

"If we were really that smart, we would have taken him (Brady) a lot sooner than the 6th round." - Bill Belicheck.

I know...I know. I want that stud behind center as much as anyone else. But the guys in this draft scare the fuck out of me. There's never a pick without risk, but the warning signs on these guys are loud and clear.
