Im with meat, im thinking Newtons the guy.

Im also with Collin, id be a bit pissed with Peterson knowing we hold the #1 overall. And yeah, i know ive bitched about Gamble. But if were gonna gamble on an Athlete id rather it be Newton. The Gantt article suggests Rivera likes the Amukamara kid

Clausen aint gonna carry Jerry thru another sorry year.

Shula supposedly checking out Mallett as the rest checked out Newton.

    Surprised to read Fairly "dropping".

it's not worth digging up a new thread but I don't know if Fairley has enough ass for a DT. I mean, he'll be good, but I dunno. Plus DTs aren't capable of 15 sacks like 1995.

Depends on the scheme, probably. Here he would just vacate his assignment and try to get around whoever attempts to block him. Thankfully the team seems to have moved on.

Cam Newton is like a baby, and the Panthers are like the amniotic sac. He will break the water, and spill all over the NFL logo shield like swordfish on rye.

I would show you what I was drinking while I posted this, but they aren't sponsoring me so screw those assholes.

I read that we are high on Peterson and Quinn. Several teams who pick right below us are showing interest in Newton. Great. We will get offers. Unless we are totally sold on the guy, we will trade down 3-5 spots.

A: We trade the pick: We could take Gabbert, or we would get Peterson or Quinn.

B: We hold onto the pick and take Newton: Why would we not trade and so many NFL teams want Newton? Maybe we trust the experts and go with the flow. They have so much more info than we do. I could root for Cam if he continues to develop.

I hope the CBA gets worked out before the draft because we can't negotiate contracts with first rounders because we have no idea about the scale. Being drafted will determine who this guy really is, not the PR show we see now.

I don’t have a boner for him but I do think the guy is going to be a championship QB in the NFL, and as such he’s who I hope we pick. He may not, nor ever, be as cerebral as Peyton or as accurate as Brees, but he does seem to have enough things going for him to be a winner. I like his charisma, his ability to extend plays and find an open receiver, his ability to get something with his arm or legs when things break down, his big arm that will force defenses to cover the deep passes, his quick release and his motion, and the way he doesn’t quit fighting or shy away from the moment. I think he’s got “it” and enough size and athleticism that he can overcome a lot of his shortcomings and do a lot of things that Peyton and Brees can only dream of. He will need a coach that can adapt to his skill set rather than getting pissed and frustrated at the things that aren’t his strong suits.

The whole brood of vipers that follow him around is worrisome, but a good sniper can probably pick those off. I do worry too about the health of his receivers having to leave themselves vulnerable to catching wayward passes.

Combine's harder, obviously. Smaller sample. Recievers you don't know. Most importantly, you are not allowed to stay in rhythem.

Most look better on their Pro Day, as you know. That's why a lot of guys don't throw at the combine. I do give credit for the effort.

None of these things change who he is. Very talented, very inexperienced. I don't see a lack of work ethic, I think this process and his work on the field show he has that. The problem is the amount of work he has to do, when he hasn't played in a pro style office. If we take him, we need another guy while he develops.
