You can't all of a sudden disregard the guy for a mediocre combine session.
He was throwing to strange receivers in what is essentially a media special.
Picking Cam would be a big risk, with a very high ceiling (or floor). The only reason you'd consider it is most of the other top guys have that same type of risk (Fairley might be psychotic, Bowers could be a one hit wonder, etc).

My safe fall back would be Peterson. Corner seems an important position for a Jim Johnson-esque defense (it is for the Eagles).

Too bad we are after a guy to throw, instead of a guy to talk.

He is the closest to a "can't miss" pick as there is in this craptastic 1st round draft class. Doesn't play a "need" position, like QB or DT, but I guess it comes down to risk-reward and BPA strategy.

    Exactly.

No, god damn it. Don't you people read what I write? Jesus. Patrick Peterson is anything but a "can't miss" prospect. He's an unbelievable athlete, but he plays corner like he wants to get on Sportscenter. The technique and temperament are not there right now for him to be an elite corner, and while I guess it's possible that he could calm down and play the position like a professional at some point, I wouldn't hold my breath. At corner you want a guy who is sound and will execute his assignment time after time after time, not one that wants to take chances because flashy interceptions make the panties drop. Deion ruined an entire generation of corners because he was just so damned good, and all these other imitators think that playing off then jumping routes is what made him a Hall of Famer. Prince Amukamara is the corner you want out of this draft if you're looking to go in that direction, although right now I'm at the point where I just want the Panthers to keep trading down over and over again to accumulate as many picks as possible. Aside from Julio Jones, there isn't anyone I'd be crazy about picking in the top 15. I do like Amukamara, but I'd really like picking up enough extra selections to choose Drake Nevis, Stephen Paea, and Ras-I Dowling.
