Mike Ditka on Rivera and Panthers:

“You've got to be realistic about it. (The Panthers) had a great coach down there. It didn't work,” he said. “They have to understand what was wrong and how they're gonna fix it. It's not just like you bring a person in and it makes a difference. You bring people in and it makes a difference.

“It takes a lot of people to make a difference because evidently some of the people (they) have right now aren't getting the job done and they're not effective at their positions. So there's going to be some changes.”

--Joseph Person (from Inside the Panthers, Charlotte Observer)

So other than the obvious QB position, what folks "aren't getting the job done" and aren't "effective at their positions"?

This from the guy that traded all his picks because he thought Ricky Williams was the missing piece the Saints needed.

we were mostly 2TE, FB wasn't even out there enough to be a problem.

IMO, biggest problem was lack of leadership. Lost more there than anywhere.

By leadership, you mean coaches or owners?

Players. We lost a ton there.
Coaches did their best but that didn't help either.
