Does the RB position matter in the NFL?

Look at NE. Kicking ass with Brady and no other skill position on the offense. Good Line, No RB.

Who is his RB? A div. 3 White guy that stands about 5'8' and weighs 190 lb.

GB - Great QB with no RB

Pittsburgh - Great QB, good receivers, terrible line

Jets - Good QB, Great Defense.

Bears - Good QB, Great Defense.

Indy - Great QB with no RB.

We should trade either Steward or DW or both to build a Kick ass Offensive line and get a QB. The only true position that is important on offense in the NFL is the QB and the ability to protect him. NE has proved this theory.

Minn. Great RB with losing record.

Tnn - Great RB with losing record.

I'm talking offense here. Defense has to be able to get the other team off the field, but look at all the good teams. All have a good to great QB and running game is questionable.

    Thoughts?

You are not going to trade DW or Stewart or even both of them for a franchise QB.

So if RBs are expendable why would anyone spend to get them from the Panthers?

    Also
Bears:2nd round RB who has done well this year, spent money to get a back to spell him
    Steelers: 1st round RB
Jets: Spent to get LT2 to backup their RB
Colts: Have 2 1st round RBs

Looks like all of these teams value their RBs pretty highly. Alternately you could argue that Minnesota and Tennessee need a good QB, rather than ditching their RBs.

I would argue that Brady is a better QB than Sanchez but the Jets won today. I would argue Peyton is better than Sanchez as well but the Jets beat them too.

You need a good QB to win games but you need more than just a QB.

You can't trade what you don't have the rights to. DW is a FREE AGENT. Yet another Hurney mess.

We can (and probably will) tag him - if such a thing still exists when we next see football.

Doubt they tag and spend DW when you have Stwert and Goodson under contract. The Panthers need to spend money signing the number 1 pick and putting some talent elsewhere. We need a QB who won't lose the game.

Curious but what's the compensation for the transition tag? For some reason I thought it cost a #1, and a Franchise tag costs 2 #1s.

That being the case I'd be willing to Transition tag DeAngelo. It'd cost less money, and I'd be willing to give him up for a 1 pick.

there's a lot of moving parts...

We don't have a QB to make the defense respect the pass... teams with Manning, Matt Ryan, Sanchez, they make their RB's better. A good RB does the same for his QB... which makes me think Clausen sucks ass even more because we have great RB's.

a QB is not going to make us all of a sudden unbeatable... but without one, we're not even in the game.

And Green Bay does have a RB playing pretty good right now... or does he just look good because Rodgers is playing lights out right now?

Last time I looked, the franchise # for RBs was reasonably affordable. DeAngelo is a top tier back when healthy, and his injury was relatively minor (it's not like he's coming off major knee reconstructive surgery).
