    not his style...

As an owner Richardson shies away from the limelight, in fact there are scant few occasions he himself holds a press conference. From my brief glancing at the history I can only find a few occasions when Richardson has spoken in a press conference environment:
    - When Carolina got a franchise in 1993
    - In 1994 to announce the hiring of Bill Polian
    - In 1999 to announce the hiring of George Seifert
    - In 2002 to announce the hiring of John Fox
    - In 2008 to announce he needed a heart transplant

I agree not his style, but this isn't the normal situation either.

I thought he had a presser to declare the firing of Capers, and one to declare the firing of Seifert.

It may be just to tells us Fox ain't coming back or something like that, since we've only heard it from the media and now fox himself.

Yeah I don't see why JR would come out with some generic stuff just to reappear in a week or three introducing the new regime.

If it's not a hiring, maybe it IS some radical stuff that we won't address anything until there's a CBA. Can't think of anything else that qualifies as major. That would suck.

a look back... Apparently, every time the Panthers start getting good, they cut the best players because they don't want to pay them

Richardson, who rarely made himself available to the media during the season, remained silent on Seifert's situation as the losses accumulated. There was speculation he'd be reluctant to fire Seifert -- after all, Seifert purged the team of many high-priced veterans last winter in order to rebuild with younger, inexperienced players on Richardson's orders.

IOW he has a track record of cutting off the coach's tab ahead of firing him.

Maybe he has decided to take Hurney's brain, which might explain keeping him on board. Then he will announce that Jerry Moore is the next coach.

Moore would be an unsexy hire, but then again, so was Mike Smith and John Fox, when everyone wanted Spurrier. xD

JR also speaks at retirements. My bet is that John Kasay is retiring.
