I like Clements. As a hard rule, assistants aren't available unless they are interviewing for HC. Baltimore and a few other teams will let guys get promoted but most only allow interviews for HC. Assistants from fired teams are usually free.

 

still... I'd be shocked if a coaching staff is hired before a new CBA is in place

One thing is for sure: If this press conference is to announce the next coach, it has been kept very quiet. THe only leak is a minority candidate. That too serves a purpose.

 

I think the coordinators need to be in place, at least one (if we hire an offensive coach, a defensive coordinator).

If we have already interviewed and hired a coach (anticipating the announcement tomorrow), who could we have NOT interviewed before now, according to league rules?

I am thinking it is Rivera. No, he was not a playoff coordinator, but his defenses were better than all playoff teams after losing Cromartie and Merriman.

 

Franchise qb might be more critical but don't want to waste Manning waiting to fire Mora.

I myself, hold more importance to having a true franchise QB than a coach. However, we have a real chance to get both, so I hope we don't fuck it up.

I mean...we had a HORRIBLE season, but it put us in a position that's pretty fucking unique, here.

We have a chance to let a QB and coach grow together. Me? I don't want Rivera. I dread him like some of you dread Grimm, though I',m not hot on Grimm in the slightest. Probably because he's boring, and as a fan, I fear boring, and I even know it's horseshit.

I remember us being glad the Falcons hired Smith. Now that man is getting ready to dominate the NFCS, and he and Ryan, man, that worked out.

Now I want a crack at that. I want x/Luck, just as the Falcons have Smith/Ryan.

We have a chance to do it.

Fucking Hurney, and losing that 2. But it's done now. Let's go get a real QB and coach. Let's give ourselves reason for hope, that in a few years, we can be kicking faces in on a road to the Superbowl.
