I'll find a better title for this if this thread somehow struggles to live instead of being DOA, but not having a coach is driving me nuts right now. Can't sleep and keep coming back looking for news that won't exist.

I'm bothered by this nonsense that we don't anticipate making an offer to Harbaugh, or that we won't interview him. If true, maybe it's the idea of interest from so many teams - "I'll spend but I won't get in a bidding war." But I tend not to put stock into it - Harbaugh hasn't talked, our guys don't talk, and anyone here who would talk is too low a level to know.

But it does worry me. I've given Hurney a pass, and chances are with two men above him with clout there's reason to suggest I'm overreacting, but there's still that worry. There's a guy out there with a history with him. Hell, he was a Steeler, too. I bet that fat fucker Grimm gets a glowing testimonial from Rooney.

So then everyone in the building's tickled, all of us are pissed, and the fat guy holding the sushi menu couldn't outclass Brian Baker.

Not that Rivera isn't a solid coach, either, and not that we have to have the big name to win. Right now I'm almost convinced that winning is just another part of football that parallels war - that there's just a portion that goes to luck, that the best team doesn't always win. But not being shitty is a good start, and right now all the chatter is about how we won't take a good look at the one guy I think is flawless.

I'm thinking some of you guys take football just a little too seriously.

    You should try politics! :p

Cliff Lee just took less money for the right situation. If Harbaugh were to give the Panthers a number to get close to, maybe there's a chance. But I'm with you, if the reports are true about the Panthers having no interest in pursuing Harbaugh, I dont get it.

Then again, Harbaugh could very well end up at Michigan and all of this is for naught.

I'll just go back to being a Houston Oiler fan. Probably couldn't get more conservative than that. Plus, its stupid.

Right now the Coach concerns me more than the Luck question. Will JR pick a good assistant HC or will he shoot for a more high profile one to re-energize the fan base. The next couple of weeks are going to be interesting to say the least.

I take football very seriously! I slept OK last night, though.

I don't think JR is either cheap or broke, I really don't. That's just my opinion. I think he's made bad decisions, and I'm still not slod on Hurney. But if he wants Harbaugh, I believe that he would pay Harbaugh whatever he wanted.

The Grimm-Rivera-other DC possibilities will start keeping me awake if the "we won't even interview Harbaugh" noise gets much louder, though. We've had 3 HC's and they've all been DC's. We've never had a franchise QB. Consequently, our offense has never been at the top of the standings.

If JR really wants that SB ring, isn't it time to look in another direction from the one we've gone in for the past 16 years? I'm not usually on a big name HC or QB bandwagon, but this time I think JR really needs to do whatever it takes to land the Harbaugh/Luck combination.

    No.
    1. I want Harbaugh.
    2. Probably won't happen.
    3. Luck's coming out.
    4. Most coaches in the playoffs are former DC's
    5. Grimm makes me nauseous.
    6. Rivera aint a token candidate.
    7. Gary Patterson?
    8. It's all about the offensive staff, mainly OC and Line Coach.

I'm still, shockingly, down for a Baby Schott/Callahan combo, but that's cooled of late.

I am in the minority, I'm probably valuing a franchise QB over a HC at this point, since he stands to be around longer than a HC.

But that doesn't mean I'm not concerned about the hire. I'd certainly prefer Harbaugh but at the other end of the excitement scale, even if we got a Grimm, as long as he gets quality coordinators we'd possibly still be in good shape. Look at the Falcons, Mike Smith? Think they were excited? But they're doing pretty well.

I'm pretty seriously concerned about the front office though. And starting to be concerned about JR, where I never have been before.
