Would have had much more affection for him had he manned up and resigned as opposed to collecting a check. Hell of a check though.

I don't know that playing it out wasn't the best way. He invested a lot in this team, and I think regardless of whatever relationship he had with JR, he loved his players. He also took the damage this season did to his win/loss record. He played the hand he was dealt and I can't fault that. Throwing in the towel when things were bad would have bothered me.

I'm referring to JR's refusal to extend, and approval of Fox's seeking employment elsewhere. Neutering Fox, more or less.

True. JR basically got what he asked for and I am surprised at his "we didn't think it would turn out this badly" apology. I was saying 0-16 before the first real game.

Fox did a good job holding this team together through an awful season. We ought to all be grateful for that fact. This could have been a lot uglier than it was.

Word, it could have been like 12.5% worse.

I agree that the team for the most part did more than go through the motions.
Why should we be grateful for that? Two more losses on this season really wouldn`t have mattered, because I take it that was the uglier you`re talking about. The offense and the defense both sucked and they each deserve blame. Neither one deserved more blame than the owner though. This cockup is squarely on his shoulders..

I do not mean on the field I mean from a PR perspective. We could have had players complaining to the press and showing their ass but none of that really happened. The defense played hard all year, the offense more or less did as well it just fell apart every time for lack of a QB.

Even today we could have won or at least made it close if Pickle could play a little. That sack on fourth down giving up 20 yards was just awful.
