Hurney

From everything I read, it seems like he's got the keys to the kingdom.

From that, I think we can make some pretty good guesses as to what goes down:

1 - a coach will be hired within a few weeks of season's end.

2 - personnel will likely stay very similar to what we have, which is imho, a good thing.

3 - several assistants might be retained

I, for one, hope meeks stays. We have alot of young guys on defense who have grown up in that system. It's been successful, and with a decent offense, could be special.

I also think we'll see some nice contracts offered to players approaching UFA. I think Marshall might stay over Gamble.

I also think the next coach might be alot like Fox. Young, player's coach. Since Hurney had ties to Fox, does anybody know who else Hurney has ties to?

 

FWIW, I also like brian baker.

Also interesting to note - Dungy says he was made an offer, and chose Indy. Which indicates a willingness to spend big on a candidate with coaching experience.

Jeff Fisher comes to mind, but doesn't strike me as a JR guy. Rep for dirty teams, etc. Just a thought.

 

the one thing i've learned is that you can't guess based on history with hurney. sure as you do, he'll blow you outa the water with the unexpected. so, expect a contradiction.

1 - no new coach hired until CBA is done. probably March of 2012.

2 - personnel will likely be disimilar to what we have, which is imho, a good thing. offensive-minded coach that loves rookies. his offense will be nick-named the Chamaleon because he won't have any convictions. Along those lines, the panthers will change their colors to red, gold and green.

3 - several assistants will be shit-canned just for grins.

Next coach will be an ass-hole that will make Rex Ryan look like a saint and he probably will have ties to Julian Assange.

 

for the right guy, they might spend some. If Dungy wanted it he could be a surprise hire.
And that would keep Meeks, who would keep his staff.
