QB better but still not sure if good enough to win big

WR - don't have a young Smitty (have a disgruntled one, not sure if we have a Moose)

RG - injuries hurt us. needs to be addressed

DL - we didn't really know it at the time, but the foundation was there for a really good DL once we added a super-stud

whoever coaches doesn't start with the bare-cupboard we had in 2001

we got a stud in Peppers in the 2002 draft; should get on again this year. otherwise 2002 turned around because of key FA additions and cutting ties with some malcontents.

I think we are better now but that 2001 team went to a superbowl only two years later so who knows. Funny how adding a QB who can play (like Delhomme before he lost his mojo) can make a team look a lot better.

    2010.

Beason, Conner, Anderson, Davis, Johnson, Hardy, Munnerlyn, Marshall, Gamble, even Brayton.

    Plus our RB's, decent oline.

QB - same story as 2001 for the disaster.

I really want luck, not because I think he's the greatest, but I think he's got a better chance of being a manning/rapeyourmother/brady/ryan than clausen does. And I think if you have the chance to take that guy, you take him.

I'd be curious to see how many of the 2001 Panthers ended up on IR. Something tells me it wasn't 13+.

Also, lovely stat about the 2001 Cats:

Ranked 4th in NFL in Pass Attempts.
Ranked 26th in NFL in Pass Yards
Ranked 30th in NFL in Pass TD's

Sometimes, we forget how comically bad that year was, as well.

    It was QB play, too.

Great qb's can make up for mediocrity at 15 other spots.

Also - I think Clausen could at best, maybe, be matt cassell / matt schaub good. at best.

I think luck could, at best, be elite.

    so fuck it, dudes.
