I think I'm the least enamored of Gruden here. I like him on MNF but there's a reason he was let go in Oakland and Tampa Bay. I'd like Cowher but he prefers to run a 3-4 and I'd love to keep Meeks as DC. So with all that in mind, Harbaugh, Grimm or Brian Schottenheimer.

    Rumors are pointing to Cowher

Bill Cowher: 'I'm Open to Listen to Opportunities'.By FanHouse Staff

Bill Cowher stepped down as coach of the Steelers in 2007 to spend more time with his family, and since then he's been constantly linked to a number of openings and potential openings, most prominently the Panthers and Giants.

In contrast to other coaching free agents who sometimes comment on the rumors about them, Cowher has maintained a relatively low profile, sticking to his job as analyst for CBS. But in a recent online chat, Cowher admitted that he's "open" to potentially taking a new job.

"I'm open to listen to opportunities," he said. "I'm very comfortable at CBS. I'll keep all my options open. And I'll only answer those questions at the end of the season. I'm not going to comment on any hypothetical situations until the entire season is over."

There should be a few enticing jobs for him, if he really is interested in getting back into coaching. The Panthers, who aren't far from where his family lives, are a lock to fire John Fox. The 49ers and Texans have good foundations and could conceivably fire their coaches this offseason. And, despite an 8-4 record, the Giants could very well part ways with Tom Coughlin if the team fails to make the playoffs. Coughlin, 64 and in the final year of his contract, saw his team collapse in the second half of 2009 and a similar fate could prompt the Giants to move in a different direction.

Wherever he goes, Cowher will likely want full control of the personnel in addition to his coaching duties, and he'll cost whatever franchise hires him top dollar.

Please don`t let it be Gruden. I couldn`t take that smartass with that much local coverage. I can barely put up with him on MNF.

Gruden's attitude might prevent Luck. He's cocky enough to take someone else and think he could make Clausen the next great QB.
