Since McDaniels is out I wonder how hard it would be to acquire Orton from the Broncos? If we had him then we could bench Clausen and let him learn for a year or two. Do that and shore up the OL a bit and the offense should pretty good. Gettis and Lafell seem to be guys who will develop into quality starters in a year or two.

If I brought him on as the OC I would not let him make any personnel decisions.

Orton has not been the problem this year in Denver. 20 TDs, 6 Ints, 93.0 QB rating. If we had that kind of production from our QB we would probably be in wild card contention.

It was a throwaway line, the defense has been the problem. Orton did suck last week tho.

If you look at McDaniel's work in Denver he did a solid job with the offense. The defense was his downfall, just like it did in Shanny before him. They just do not have much on that side of the ball. Turning Kyle Orton to Brandon Lloyd into one of the top sets in the league is pretty darn impressive. I think McDaniels will make a good OC somewhere. I would not let him control personnel moves though, he was in over his head with that.

Lots of guys who suck at HC are very good coordinators. The fact that McDaniels sucked in Denver does not mean he will not be a good OC somewhere.

Being a good OC isnt all you need. A buy like Marinelli failed but kept league rezpect. Can we say that with McDaniels? He should work again but this hurts his standing.
