I think this would make trading down a few spots a lot easier. Personally, since we now have a former I-AA 5' 10" QB instead of a second rounder, this might be smart, especially if the Panthers convert to a 3-4. By dropping 5 spots you can get an additional second rounder and a 2012 first rounder, for example.

This is what the NHL did after their lockout a few years ago. I don't know if it would have always gone down like this because this draft had been hyped for years because of Crosby. As the NFL strives to reach the success the NHL has enjoyed for decades, I imagine they will follow suit.

The loss of the 2004–05 season meant that there were no results on which to base the order of the 2005 entry draft. The league settled on a lottery system in which all teams had a weighted chance at the first pick, expected to be Sidney Crosby. The lottery was tilted so teams with fewer playoff appearances over the last three seasons and fewer number one overall picks over the last four seasons had a better chance of landing higher picks. The complete order was determined by the lottery, and the 2005 draft was conducted in a "snake" style, meaning in even rounds, the draft order was reversed. This system was an attempt to compromise between those who felt all teams should have had an equal chance at the first pick and those who felt only the weaker teams should have been in the running.

this idea makes sense, hope it doesn't happen and we get 2 years of top picks if there is a lock-out

Hey there, we're actually under 100 days away from the CBA terminating, so I wanted to let you know about the petition that's going on right now to make sure we see the NFL next year.

You guys are the hardcore fans, so have your voice heard and do your part to ensure everyone gets to see their team next year.

I couldn't make myself read past "this is what the NHL did" but my first reaction is that the NFL should do the complete opposite of anything the NHL does.
