Mallett's footwork needs work, and while his numbers are nice I have yet to see a Petrino QB work out in the NFL- he's starting to get the Tedford thing going.

At least people are over Locker.

    Luck is reaching critical mass.

And yes it's a little disingenuous that he's the third "QB of the decade" of this year. People were all about Mallett, then Locker, now it's all about Luck. I'd as well take the guy who made Luck, and make that guy the guy who makes Clausen, just because we're stuck with that guy already.

Whoever ends up as head coach next year is going to have to do it with the qbs we already have. Maybe pick up a vet but nothing of starter caliber. Clausen is the qb next year.

yeah. Right or wrong you have to see what he can do, under the confines of the next situation. Logically, I'd as rather use Luck as bait into the best trade situation to get the DT we don't have, under the guise of "we may or may not have our guy."

Mallett = Scott Mitchell, IMHO. But then again, I've been way wrong about QBs over the years.

I haven't had a chance to watch Luck, save for a highlight here and there. Is he really that good?

Yes. Him and Harbaugh together would be amazing, but I really don't either will happen.

he certainly seems to be very good at this point. He's doing everything right. He'll have started 3 seasons at the end of this one, which is always a good sign (especially if you're possibly coming out as a Jr).
His father was a college QB, and then went into sports administration, becoming President of the WLAF and is now AD at his alma mater (WV).

He runs a pro O, doesn't have hangups about being a runner, a spread guy, a shotgun guy. He has the requisite tangibles and intangibles, I don't think a lot is missing.

The thing is, though, he still has to do it. He has to go to a program that's dedicated to heading upward, get a few breaks, adjust to the game quickly at this level.
