Gettis has been balling since Preseason.

He's probably had a shit game somewhere, but some of the amazing plays he has made in key spots (NO, SF games) show you that he's the real deal.

And it's not Colbert-esque body catching. He's attacking the damn ball.

I feel as good about our passing game now as I have since last December. Carry it over vs a tough STL team next week, and see if it can be repeated. From there, you see a window of games where Moore and this unit can have some big games.

89 opens it all back up. We probably should just understand that without Otah and a solid RG, we are no longer a run-first team. We'll see, but as I said all along, we have more than enough talent on the field to win every last game we play in this year. It won't happen, but hell, we'll steal a few.

Was this past game the first time Moore and Gettis played significant minutes together? Gettis was not starting early in the year before Moore got benched. In the preseason Gettis was always playing with the backups. I am not sure this means anything but they both looked a lot better. When Smith gets back to 100% it is going to be interesting.

he started Tampa, if I recall right. We had no LaFell that game and that's when Gettis started getting the nod over him.

Props to Gettis. He ran some nice routes and made some nice grabs. San Fransisco has a terrible secondary so here's to hoping Gettis, and the rest of the WR's for that matter, can keep up the production

I'm mildly concerned about the Rams, as they come after QB's with a little more authority (blitz) than SFO. Tim Ryan pointed it out on Friday--SFO is one of the few 3-4 teams that rarely blitz their LB's.

Moore will feel some heat this week. STL is giving up 4.7 YPC on defense this year, so if there's ever a time for our offensive line and backs, collectively, to break out, this would be the week.

As for Gettis, this would be yet another game he could dominate. There will be a ton of man coverage, tight press coverage at that. Moore will be looking for plenty of hot routes, I would suspect, and I would not be opposed to getting 33 more involved, flexed out in the slot or wide.

What impresses me about Gettis is the entire mechanical package. The dropped pass was not good, but other than that, his route running puts Randy Moss to shame, and his speed is remarkable for his 6-3 frame.

Go back and look at his 2nd TD, if you can, where he ran right past Spencer. You will never see a better example of his ability to separate than on that play. Plus, to "hand-catch" the football and maintain body control to stay in the end zone was good shit. Let's not even talk about the ass-kicking he delivered to Nate Clements on that first TD--nasty stick route. Nate is somewhere in film study this week just hiding his head in a towel over that one.

It's been a forgettable season, on the whole, but there were some stellar moments in that game from the passing side. Putting Smith in motion and in the slot was brilliant. His production was average, but it forced the attention to his window of the field, and allowed the two rookies to make plays.

I don't know how practice has been going, but it might be time to give Devin Thomas a jersey and let Clowney have the week off. I like them both, but I think Thomas is a much more viable threat in the passing game, and he also can play ST.

Davidson deserves no medals in 2010, but kudos to him and the staff for recognizing that the best way to move the ball from here on out is to pick up the fucking tempo and, at times, allowing your QB to run the plays in no-huddle situations.

On that note, coming out vs. STL in a no-huddle look wouldn't suck.

With Smith, Gettis, Lafell and Rosario we have some decent options in the passing game. If Moore can keep his composure our offense might turn the corner really soon.

that is true but I am pretty confident that they are going to be good, especially Gettis. You could see it in him in the preseason. Lafell has taken a little longer but he seems to be clicking now too. Even though Smith is a little older now the thought of how good he would be with other WRs who the defense respects lining up with him is pretty awesome.
